"いらっしゃいませ！！！！"

「いらっしゃいませ！！！」ってお店によって言い方が異なっているようです！！


例えば

お寿司やさんの場合・・・「へいっ！らっしゃい」
フレンチレストランだと・・・「いらっしゃいませ」
居酒屋だったら・・・「いらっしゃいませぇぇぇぇ」　　みたいなね。

でも日本のレストランや居酒屋ってそれだけではないでしょ！？！？

お店によっては店長やシェフが見送りに来るところもあるんです。
確かに私が働いている居酒屋でもお客さんが帰るときは必ず、従業員が揃って見送りをします。

私が受講しているビジネスイングリッシュのアメリカ人の先生はこれにすごく驚いたけど、同時に感心したんだそうです。


日本のレストランや洋服店などの対応で異文化を感じたことはありますか？



English ver.
There are some different ways to say "IRASSYAIMASE" by restaurant.

For example...

at SUSHI restaurant..."IRASSYAIMASE" sounds like strongly and loudly.

at french food restaurant..."IRASSYAIMASE" sounds like gently.

at Izakaya..."IRASSYAIMASE" sounds like frendly. etc...

but in addition, owner or chef sometimes come to see you off at the door.
Actually, in my izakaya employer and employees see customer off every time.

My American teacher who teach me business English were surprised and impressed at the same time.

Have you ever felt different culture in service at the restaurant or clothing shop???

Tattoo is soooo cool!!!!

I'm gonna tatoo on the nape of the my neck some day.

But most of the Japanese don't feel NICE :(

Recently, "Tattoo" is like a one of the accessory among young people.

How about other coutries??

"OTAKU"

ゲームオタク・アニメオタク・・・

今では“オタク”という言葉が世界共通語としてありますが、日本と諸外国でも“オタク”の概念は一緒なのだろうか？？？


“オタク”と言わると、どんなことを想像しますか？

・メガネをかけている
・服装がダサい
・女の子の人形を持ち歩いている　
・パソコンに詳しい　　　　　　　　　　　　　　などなど・・・

でも、実際はゲームやアニメが好きでそのことにとても詳しく、でもオシャレにも興味のある女の子や男の子はたくさんいます。
彼らの場合は、“オタク”とは呼ばれないのだろうか？

Now "OTAKU" is universal language.
But it is same image about "OTAKU" both in Japan and in another country???

What do you imagine about "OTAKU"?

-wearing glasses
-wearing unfashionable clothes
-carrying girl's doll around
-knowing much about PC etc...

But actually　there are many boys and girls who know much about video game or animation and are interested in fashionable clothes.

in this case, they aren't called "OTAKU", are they???

"MOTTAINAI"

"MOTTAINAI"という言葉は日本独自のものでしたが、環境を考えた活動や節約行動（ex:オーストラリアでは節水を心がけるなど）はどの国にも見られるようでした。

でも、“タイムセール”が日本でしか行われていないことにはビックリしました。
しかしビデオでケニアの人が「余ったものを安く売るなら、最初から作らなければいい」と言っていましたが、国ごとでも"MOTTAINAI"に対する考え・・・

"MOTTAINAI"　だから　「後で売る」
"MOTTAINAI"　だから　「最初から控える」

のように分かれているのではないかと思いました。

「日本人は働き者であるか？」






「日本人は働き蜂だ」という表現を耳にするように、その通りだと思います。
でもそれは昔の話で、今は男性も女性も働く時代なので本当にそうなのかわかりません。




私がオーストラリアにホームステイしたとき、４人家族の家にお世話になりました。
お父さんとお母さんは共働きで、子供達は小学生でした。
週末はいつも遊んだり、お出かけをしたり家族で過ごす時間がとても多かったです。
オーストラリアでは土曜日・日曜日はどこの会社も休みのようで、日本と違って“週末”は“家族のための時間”だという考えがあるため、週末は家族で出かけることが多かったです。

私がホームステイした家では、土曜日と日曜日の夕食作りはお父さんがしていたことに驚きました。
話を聞くと、夫婦が共働きの家では平日の食事を妻が作り、休日の食事を夫が作るのは珍しいことではないそうです。



日本では家族を持つ会社員は子供の学校行事や家族旅行のために休暇をもらうことはとても大変だし、そのために働いている人も少なくないと思います。


日本人働く意義：ローンの返済、生活費を稼ぐこと．．．


いろんな犠牲を払って日本人は働いている気がする。
それは現在の様々な家庭問題や社会問題を引き起こす原因の１つでもあると思います。





"Are the Japanese hard worker??"



I often used to hear that "The Japanese are like woker bee", so I have thought so too.
But it's the old story.
At present, it's period that men and women can work together.
So recently I don't think that the Japanese are hard worker.


When I went to Australia for studing English, I stayed at a family of four.
Father and Mather both work.
Children are elementary school students.
On the weekend, they spent time on going outside or going shopping with family.
In Australia, it seems that every company has holiday on saturday and sunday.
and they thinks "weekend" is for the time to spend with family.
so I used to go out with them on the weekend.

In my hostfamily, hostfather usually have cooked on the weekend.
It surprised me!!!!
My hostfather told me that it is usual in Australia.
Wife make the dinner on weekdays and Husband make the dinner on weekend.

In Japan, it is hard to take day off to take part in the event of the school or take a trip with his family.
And some worker may do them job for this.

i think...

The Japanese meaning of working are "repaying a loan" and "geting a them living" ...

I think they work hard with making many sacrifices.
It seems cause of the present various family problems and social problems.

About "oseji"

わたしは思ったことは率直的に言う性格なので、自分が「カワイイ」と思った時は「カワイイ」と言うし、私も他の人から褒められたら、「うれしい」とか「ありがとう」と言います。

”お世辞”は日本独特のものだとは思いますが、結局はその人の性格の問題だと思います。

I say directly that I think.
When I thought "cute", i say "cute".
When someone admired my looks, I am happy and say "Thank you".

I think "Oseji" is Japanese own culture, but in conclusion it is concerned with personality.
